Hope you are all having a fantastic Saturday!
I am breaking my blog post up into chunks today, just because I can!
Hospitals...Today Jen and I start our volunteer work at my local hospital.
I am really excited, but really nervous, because I have to be able to "expect the unexpected", and I suck at doing that.
I like things to be predictable, and to follow a routine.
Things like that make me feel safe.
I guess we will see how today goes.
At least I am only going for an hour...
Turnovers...I had a chocolate turnover from Arby's for breakfast this morning.
And you know what?
IT WAS DELICIOUS.
Screw the fact that it had over 500 calories.
I allow myself more calories on the weekend for a reason!
And guinea pigs...This bit is hardest to talk about.
My twin sister has a guinea pig named Harvey.
She loves that little guy like she loves no one else.
That pig is like her life, seriously.
He has congestive heart failure, and he is a little over a year and a half old.
Congestive heart failure is when there is a huge fluid buildup around the heart.
The buildup puts a tremendous strain on the heart, making it very difficult for him to function properly.
He has been on lasiks and antibiotics for the past couple of weeks, and for the most part, has been doing very well.
Last night, he took a turn for the worse.
My mom said he probably would not make it through the night.
It was rough.
But, by some miracle, he is still alive today.
My mom doubled his lasiks dose and fed him pellets with a syringe this morning.
We will see how he gets on now, I suppose.
In other news...My weigh in is tomorrow.
I am excited and nervous at the same time.
I really hope I have lost at least a little bit of weight.
I am playing around with the idea of writing a fictional work about eating disorders.
Now, I would never publish it, it would just be for my own amusement.
I have wanted to write something like this for a very long time.
Yep, I am a writer, and have been since I was 13.
I usually write poetry and song lyrics, so this is going to be a new foray for me entirely.
I am currently working on writing the prologue. :)
I am also reading Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson.
Good stuff, indeed!
I hope you all have a wonderful day; you deserve it!
Stay positive, stay beautiful! <3

I loved Wintergirls <3 And that turnover sounds delicious! This may seem strange, but I think you're really brave for being able to treat yourself to something so sinful. :)

I used to work in a hospital, I can honestly say it was the most rewarding, incredible job ever. Whether you're there for an hour or 45, you know that when you step out you've made a difference to someone who needed you and the feeling is priceless x
