30 Day Challenge

Start Date: July 1, 2011

Day One- Your stats
As of today, I weigh 145 pounds. My highest recorded weight was 180 pounds, and my lowest recorded weight was 120 pounds. My ultimate goal weight is 95 pounds.

Day Two- How tall are you? Do you like your height?
I am 4 ft. 11 in. tall. Some days I like my height, others I wish I was taller!

Day Three- A picture of your thinspiration. What features do you like about this person?
Jayma Mays. Where do I start? Her arms are tiny, her waist is tiny, and she is a redhead, like me. :)

Day Four- Your greatest fears about weight loss.
My greatest fear about weight loss would have to be someone telling me that I look too skinny or should not lose any more weight before I have hit my goal. That, and someone trying to stop me from losing any more weight or not supporting me in losing weight.

Day Five- Why do you really want to lose this weight? Are you doing it for you?
I really want to lose this weight for a lot of reasons. I want to lose this weight so that I can be healthy, mainly, but I do have some shallow, superficial reasons for doing it as well. I want to lose this weight so my boyfriend can pick me up, and so I can sit on his lap without feeling like I am going to crush him. I want to lose this weight so that I can be someone's thinspiration. I want to lose this weight so that I can wear anything I want to. I want to lose this weight so that I turn heads wherever I go, and so that people I do not even know are envious of my body. Am I doing this for me? Abso-freakin'-lutely. I may have superficial reasons for losing weight that have to deal with others, but at the end of the day (borrowing my boyfriend's favorite cliche here) I only get one body, and I need to treat it as best as I possibly can.

Day Six- Do you binge? If so, explain why you think you do.
I binge sometimes, yes. Why do I do it? Any number of reasons. A really low amount of willpower, the presence of delicious, triggering, unhealthy foods, the tendency of my family to just eat whenever there is food available, regardless of whether we are hungry or not, and because usually, if I have already screwed up my day's intake, I reason with myself that it cannot hurt to just have a "little bit" more bad food...

Day Seven- Do your parents know you’re trying to lose weight? Do they care?
Yes, my parents definitely know, since I live with them. They do care, actually, in a good way. They are being quite supportive of my decision to be healthier, honestly. They are always asking me how much weight I have lost and how my diet is going, and they buy me the healthy foods that I need in order to be successful in losing this weight.

Day Eight- Your workout routine.
My workout routine is not all that varied, but it does change depending on the environment I live in during the year. When I am at home, my workout routine consists mainly of calisthenics, push-ups, crunches, and weight training with a bit of water aerobics thrown in. When I am at university, my workout routine focuses on walking, weight training, the elliptical, the treadmill, and the exercise bike. (the bike is purely to improve the range of motion in my hips/legs)

Day Nine- Did people ever make comments about your weight in a negative way?
Yup. My family always used to, which is why I started losing weight in the first place. They always called me "Chubs" and commented on how much I ate. Now they cannot get me to eat enough! Haha.

Day Ten- What was the hardest thing you gave up during this “weight loss.”
The hardest thing I gave up? My addiction to junk food and caffeine, definitely. I used to love sweet and salty junky foods as much as the next girl, and for a while, it was like hell, struggling with those cravings every day. Now, the cravings have lessened, but I still battle with them occasionally. I drink caffeine free pop now, too. The caffeine headaches at the beginning were also hell, but I am learning to live without caffeine, because it will be healthier for me in the long run.

Day Eleven- Your favorite thinspo blog and why?
I do not really have a "favorite" thinspo blog. Google is my friend. I just pick whichever photo(s) stand out to me most at that particular time, and post them. :)

Day Twelve- What do you normally eat?
This is dependent on the day. I try to eat what I want, but still remain healthy and under my calorie targets for the day. I am trying really hard to stay away from junk food during this lifestyle change, but it is proving more difficult than I imagined. Usually, for breakfast, I will have cereal with skim milk or a bagel with fruit-flavored cream cheese spread, and some sort of fruit or veg. For lunch, I usually have some sort of Lean Pocket. Snacks are crackers, fruit, or veg. Then for dinner, I have small portions of whatever my dad makes/brings home. Oh, and LOTS of water/caffeine free diet pop, although that is not food. :P

Day Thirteen- Are you losing weight in a healthy or unhealthy way?
I am trying my hardest to lose weight in a healthy way. That does not mean that I do not struggle with my EDNOS demons on a daily basis. Those will probably never go away. But I am eating a "normal" amount of calories of healthy foods and exercising every day, so I guess you could call it healthy.

Day Fourteen- What’s your UGW? When you expect to reach it?
I say that my UGW is 93 lbs. which would give me a BMI of 18.8, but honestly, who knows if there is going to be a higher weight that I am more comfortable at? I will know my happy UGW when I get to it. :) Whenever that happens; I do not have a "target date" in mind as of now.

Day Fifteen- Are you vegan or vegetarian? If so, has this helped you lose weight? If not, would you ever consider turning vegan or vegetarian?
I am not currently vegan or vegetarian. I have tried to be in the past, and been unsuccessful, so to answer the question of whether I would consider turning vegan or vegetarian, no, I would not.

Day Sixteen- When did you first decide to lose weight?
Oh, gosh, it started clear back in middle school, to be honest. I went on a "diet" because I felt fat. I lost a ton of weight and got so many amazing compliments from people. Then I let life take over again and got fat, again.
Now I am not horribly fat, but still fat, and getting skinnier every day. ;)

Day Seventeen- Do you have an eating disorder?
I used to. ED-NOS, because I had the disordered eating habits, but I was too fat to be classified as anorexic. I still have some disordered habits, but I am getting better.

Day Eighteen- What food is your weakness?
Anything sweet. Dude, if it is chocolate, cake, or cookies, I will suck it down like a vacuum cleaner. Every single effing time. Sigh.
