I must admit, I am disappointed in myself this morning.
You see, I was doing really well yesterday, but then, right before I went to sleep, I got the urge to go out to the kitchen and eat some of the pizza leftover from dinner.
I had two more slices, bringing my calorie total to 1,059 for the day.
I guess that is not totally horrible, but I felt so guilty afterward.
This happens almost every day.
I do really, really well with my eating during the day, and then at night, it all goes to hell.
I am a horrible late-night eater.
It has always been this way.
I can remember back in my elementary school days, when I would purposely wake up at like 3 am or so, go out to the kitchen, grab a bag of barbecue crisps (we always had them in the house then), sit in front of the television, and just eat and eat.
Most times, I was good at being sneaky, but I did get caught a couple of times.
And I was not even ashamed when I got caught; I was more angry than anything else.
Sigh.
And I was hoping to break the cycle.
Any ideas on how to avoid compulsive late-night binging/overeating?
I am at the end of my rope with this.
I will never be thin and perfect if I carry on this way.
I am planning on keeping myself busy today, so that I do not think about food at all.

- 1 Carnation Instant Breakfast Essentials packet w/ 1 cup skim milk (+160 calories)
- 3 pretzel rods (+55 calories)
- 1 Hawaiian Punch Polar Blast drink mix packet w/ 16 oz. water (+10 calories)
- 1 cup lettuce with 2 tbsp Italian dressing (+94 calories)
- potato wedges (+123 calories)
- country fried steak w/ gravy (+535 calories)
- 1 piece apple pie (+296 calories)
Total: 1,273 calories
I feel like utter rubbish at the moment. I should not have eaten that. And I cannot purge, not here, with my parents and sister around. I am going to try to exercise a little bit. I feel so guilty and anxious now. I HATE FOOD!!!!!!!!!!! :'(

Omg I was in that streak for so long..chew a big wad of gum or brush your teeth with minty toothpaste. If there's absolutely no method to combat it and you MUST eat at night, do NOT eat pizza or anything salty at night because you'll retain water like crazy. I'v eaten loads of chocolate at 11:00 at night and lost weight. It's not dense or salty. Pick foods like that or foods that don't weigh a lot. There's always chew and spit too!
ReplyDeleteIf you're able to get to a computer, I would say blog about your cravings instead of actually doing it. Being able to talk to us about it might help and by the time you're done blogging about it you might have had enough time to talk yourself out of it. Or post pictures of skinny people around you and look at them before you grab your late night snack.

ReplyDeleteThe only thing that has worked for me so far is to keep the food away lol because no matter what I'm craving I refuse to go out and buy it if I don't already have it.

We are the same person. Two things have worked for me. 1) take a sleeping pill. I'm not sure where you live but "melatonin" is an herbal supplement that you can buy at almost any drugstore that might helps you sleep if you can't get a prescription. It's worked wonders for me. 2) I'm not sure if you smoke, but if you do, sometimes I smoke a cig before I go to bed and I am not hungry anymore. But if you don't already smoke I don't recommend you start. Anyhow, good luck and don't be too hard on yourself. xoxo
ReplyDeletehahaha girl dont we all have late night binging sessions, its so hard not to, and its TEN TIMES worse to eat at night. i have been doing it so so so much lately and its been totally biting me in the ass because im fat all over again, i recently ate a bunch of pizza too blah i felt like dying after that! stay strong and persevere through this, and ciggs help me not to eat, BUT ice cuts cravingsm chug alot of water then eat the ice, it sounds dumb but that shit works, good luck dollllface xoxo
